Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have — in plain language.

Last updated: 10 October 2026. Also see our Terms & conditions.

01Who we are

QQuranic (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides live one-to-one online Qur'an, Tajweed, Hifz and Islamic studies classes to students of all ages around the world. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through qquranic.com (the “Website”) and through our classes and communications, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at any time using the details in the “Contact us” section below.

02Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run our classes and our Website.

Information you give us — when you request a free trial, fill in a form, message us on WhatsApp, email us or enrol in a class:

  • Contact details: name, WhatsApp/phone number, email address.
  • Student details: student name, age group, number of students, learning level and course of interest.
  • Scheduling details: country, timezone and preferred class times.
  • The content of messages and enquiries you send us.
  • Billing details we need to arrange payment (for example the name on a payment and a transaction reference). We do not collect or store full card numbers on our Website.

Information collected automatically when you use the Website:

  • Device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, referring page and the date and time of your visit.
  • Approximate location (country/region) derived from your IP address or timezone — we use your timezone to suggest a currency.
  • Preferences you choose on the Website, such as colour theme and display currency, stored in your browser.
  • Information collected by cookies, pixels and similar technologies (see “Cookies and similar technologies”).

Information from third parties — if you contact us through WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram we receive the information those platforms pass on to us, such as your profile name and the content of your message. If you click one of our adverts, the advertising platform tells us which campaign brought you to the Website. If you fill in a lead form on one of our Facebook or Instagram adverts, Meta passes the answers you gave (for example your name, phone number, email address and any questions in the form) to us so that we can contact you about a free trial.

03How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and arrange your 3-day free trial;
  • match a suitable tutor, schedule classes and run lessons;
  • send class reminders, progress updates and service messages;
  • take payment, keep financial records and prevent fraud;
  • understand how the Website is used and improve its content, speed and design;
  • measure and improve our advertising and show relevant adverts to people who have visited our Website;
  • keep the Website and our services secure; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Where the law of your country requires a legal basis (for example under the EU/UK GDPR) we rely on: performing a contract or taking steps at your request before a contract (classes and trials); our legitimate interests (running, securing and improving our services and marketing them responsibly); your consent (analytics and advertising cookies, and marketing messages where required — you can withdraw consent at any time); and legal obligation.

04Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files placed on your device. We also use similar technologies such as pixels, tags and local storage. We use them in three ways:

  • Essential / functional — remembering your colour theme (light, dark or auto), your chosen currency and whether you have already seen our trial pop-up. These are stored in your browser and are not used to identify you.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use the Website (for example which pages are popular) so we can improve it. It collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type.
  • Advertising — the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and Google advertising technologies let us measure how well our adverts work and show relevant adverts to people who have visited the Website.

You can control cookies at any time: use your browser settings to block or delete cookies; use Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) and Meta's Ad Preferences (facebook.com/adpreferences) to manage personalised adverts; use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout); or visit youradchoices.com (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU). Blocking cookies may affect some Website features such as remembering your currency.

Analytics and advertising cookies are switched off until you choose to allow them in our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer of every page. Your choice is stored in your browser and we ask again if you clear it.

05Advertising and remarketing

We advertise our classes on third-party platforms, including Google (Search, YouTube and the Display Network) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To do this we may use remarketing and conversion tracking: third-party vendors, including Google and Meta, may place cookies or pixels on your browser when you visit our Website and use that information to show our adverts to you on other sites and apps, and to measure which adverts lead to enquiries.

These platforms act under their own privacy policies. Google's practices are described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Meta's at facebook.com/privacy/policy. We do not give advertising platforms your name, phone number or email address unless you have contacted us through that platform.

We do not use advertising features based on sensitive categories of data, and we do not target advertising to children under 13.

06Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:

  • Tutors — the tutor assigned to a student receives the information needed to teach (student name, level, schedule and contact for lesson coordination).
  • Service providers who process data on our behalf: website hosting and security (Cloudflare); email and form delivery (Formspree and our email hosting provider); messaging (WhatsApp); video-lesson tools; analytics (Google Analytics); and advertising measurement (Google and Meta). They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
  • Payment providers and banks, to process fees you pay us.
  • Professional advisers, regulators or authorities where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, safety and property.
  • A successor business if QQuranic is ever merged, sold or reorganised, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

Under some laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, allowing advertising cookies to collect information may be treated as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can opt out by blocking or deleting those cookies, using the ad-preference tools listed above, or emailing us.

07International transfers

Our students are located worldwide and our providers operate globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries whose data-protection laws differ from yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or rely on the provider's recognised transfer mechanisms.

08Children's privacy

Many of our students are children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) through the Website. Class enquiries, enrolment and payments for children are handled with a parent or guardian, and we ask parents to be present or nearby during lessons.

We collect only the information needed to teach a child (such as name, level and schedule). If you believe a child has given us personal information without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it. Parents may review, correct or ask us to delete their child's information at any time.

Lessons are not recorded unless the parent or adult student has agreed. Any recordings made for review are shared only with the student, parent and assigned tutor.

09How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above. In general: enquiry and trial details are kept for up to 24 months if you do not enrol; student and billing records are kept for the duration of enrolment and then for the period required for tax and accounting purposes; analytics and advertising data are kept for the retention periods set by those providers. After that we delete or anonymise it.

10Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls and trusted hosting providers. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please take care when sharing information online and tell us immediately if you think your information has been compromised.

11Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example the UK, EU/EEA, California and many other places) you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (this does not affect earlier processing);
  • receive your information in a portable format; and
  • not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any right, email us using the contact details below. We may need to verify your identity first and will respond within the time required by applicable law (usually within one month). If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to your local data-protection authority — in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

You can stop marketing messages at any time by telling us or using the opt-out in the message. We will still send essential service messages about your classes.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make material changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example by a notice on the Website.
